TEATRE.GREC_Reflections.Of.Duality

We find a very noticeable duality when we visit El Teatre Grec de Barcelona. This duality is made up of a large city like Barcelona that extends to the north of our Teatre Grec and vegetation, a nature that emerges on the lower left side (southwest) of the place in question. This duality generated allows you to feel immersed in a dense nature without losing consciousness that you are still in the city and in our work it is that duality that we are going to work through reflexes. Hence the name of our project, "reflections of duality".
Reflection is an abstract thing, often confusing and that is where the difference between reality and reflection is. ¿Is what our eyes see a reality and what is reflected in them a fiction of that reality? Reality and reflection. ¿Can we discern between what our eyes see clearly and directly and what they see through a reflection? ¿Does the reality of what we see vary when we look at it reflected?
The idea of ​​our intervention is to distort that reality. Applying reflections in some strategic points of this Teatre Grec, what is intended is to generate a duality between what is real and what is reflected, between what we really see (a mirror) and what it shows us (the sky or an altered view of the place) .
Duality between realities, duality between our gaze and the reflections that are generated in it.
Intervening the Teatre Grec and the pergola with its viewing area, is intended to generate a duality between the place itself and the nature that surrounds it. In this case we wanted to represent the reflection towards the sky, towards what is not palpable, towards that which is always there but how difficult it is for us to look towards it, integrate it into our gaze. Regarding the intervention in the pavilion area, from the beginning we have wanted to work this pavilion from the inside out, that is why all the proposals have revolved around the mirrors and the reflections they generated.
This proposal aims to create mirror stands that play a monopolizing role while being discreet in this place. Reflections lead to confusion among users. In addition, we have given this space a function that until now it did not have, that of a bar / cafeteria.
